Jovicolor Triwax Wax Crayons

Triangular wax crayons that do not stain or break. In fun, bright colours, their triangular design make them ideal for a child's hand and they will not roll away. With TRIWAX crayons children can draw smooth, regular lines and the crayons slide well over the paper.

They are pleasant to draw with and will not stain children's hands. They last a long time as all the whole crayon is made of coloured wax and sharpening them is child's play!

1. Shading technique

Shading is achieved by working from lighter to darker tones of colour. The coloured areas are created by drawing lines very close together or placed one on top of the other.

2. Linear technique

Different colour values are achieved by drawing lines, one on top of the other, in a criss-cross pattern. The criss-cross pattern should be thicker in the area where a darker shade is required.

3. Wax sgraffito

We will work on top of a drawing in light colours using the shading technique, or on a layer of different coloured lines drawn in wax crayon. First, cover the entire drawing with a layer of dark-coloured wax crayon. With a burin or pointed modelling tool, scratch away lines to reveal the hidden colours underneath.

4. Soap sgraffito

This process is exactly the same as the wax sgraffito technique, except that instead of covering the base layer of colours with wax crayon we will use a mixture of liquid tempera and liquid soap (approximately three parts tempera to one part soap). When the tempera has dried, we will scratch away the drawing to reveal the layer of colours underneath.

5. Shavings

The shavings left over from sharpening Jovi Wax Crayons can be classified into colours and used to make mosaic-type compositions. Spread PVA glue over the area of the drawing to be “coloured in” and sprinkle the shavings of the chosen colour on top of it. Once the glue has dried, shake off any loose pieces of wax.ce.s, but if you think the garment could be problematic, we suggest you wash it by hand.

  • Handwashing with bar soap is sufficient for getting rid of stains on clothing.
